— Continue Reading BelowPhoto: Tara DonovanThe former architect and interior designer behind Pari Dust, the CFDA-nominated blog that marries high art and high fashion, will be curating conversations with her favorite artists all month long on ELLE.com.When you receive a direct message from Diane von Furstenberg saying you’ve been nominated by the CFDA for the inaugural «Fashion Instagrammer of the Year» award, you respond immediately—unless, of course, you have no idea how direct messages on Instagram work. «I don’t even check them. Never!» Pari Ehsan says, embarrassment rendering her girlish speaking voice nearly falsetto. «I just happened to look at my phone and was like, ‘Why? The CFDA? What is happening?'» Suffice it to say: «It was a a good moment.»Those aha moments seem to strike the USC-trained interior designer in the most organic of ways: After leaving Los Angeles and a job at design firm Meier/Ferrer, a company started by Richard Meier’s daughter, Ana, Ehsan noticed while taking a personal portrait that her fur jacket complemented a New York gallery’s artwork. «It kind of hit me that it would be something really different to create my own original imagery,» she says. Thus Pari Dust was born. On the fashion-meets-art photo journal www.canadagooseonsale.biz , the 30-year-old—who lives in a rack-filled Chinatown apartment she calls «an ode to my closet»—juxtaposes Keith Haring doodles with Rodarte graphic prints, Pieter Vermeersch gradated-color canvases with Stella McCartney organza-and-crepe party dresses, and a Sheila Hicks multicolor-cord installation with delicate House of Holland lace.As the effort gains momentum—Ehsan boasts 98K and counting followers on Instagram—her process continues to evolve: In addition to a wardrobe of pieces culled from Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi, and Farfetch Canada Goose Vests , designers now let her pluck looks from the runway. «The outfit pairings are getting more and more ambitious,» she says of a recent post that features a Mary Katrantzou–clad Ehsan nearly disappearing into a Todd Eberle photograph.
